Alison Sweeney is an American actress, television host, director and author, best known for the role of Samantha “Sami” Brady on the long-running Days of Our Lives. Making her debut in the role in 1993, she became a central figure on the soap, earning daytime genre awards and a Daytime Emmy by popular vote; her performance and longevity on the series account for much of her public recognition.
Beyond series work, Sweeney broadened her television profile as a reality-show host, notably on The Biggest Loser, a role she assumed beginning with its fourth season. At the same time, she built a career in romantic and mystery television films, including the Murder, She Baked adaptations, in which she starred as amateur sleuth Hannah Swensen.
