Amable Tastu, born Sabine Casimire Amable Voïart, was a 19th-century French writer and poet, recognized as a femme de lettres. Raised in a literary milieu and influenced by her stepmother Élise Voïart, she first attracted attention in 1816 with poems published in the Mercure de France and benefited from the patronage of figures such as Adelaïde Dufrénoy; the critic Sainte-Beuve praised the delicacy of her verse.
Married to the printer Joseph Tastu, she faced financial hardship after the printing house failed in 1830, which forced her to work in the book trade to support her family. She produced educational works and literary criticism, including studies of Italian and German literature, and compiled collections and historical chronologies that reinforced her pedagogical work.
After her husband's death she accompanied her son on diplomatic missions in the Middle East and the Balkans, returning to France when her eyesight began to fail. Her large body of work—poetry, historical compilations, and literary guides—secured her a place in the cultural life of French Romanticism and left collections consulted by biographers and libraries.
