Sir Barry Allan Crompton Gibb is a singer, songwriter, producer and guitarist born on the Isle of Man, best known worldwide as the leader and lead voice of the Bee Gees. Together with his brothers Robin and Maurice, he formed one of the most commercially successful bands in pop music history, responsible for classics such as "Stayin' Alive", "How Deep Is Your Love?" and "You Should Be Dancing", and for defining the disco era with widely successful soundtracks. As a writer and producer, Gibb played a central role in the careers of several artists, including Barbra Streisand—whose album Guilty, produced by him, sold millions of copies—and Andy Gibb. His songwriting earned the group a place in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and established Barry as one of the leading songwriters and producers with a notable number of chart-topping singles. After personal losses and the final end of the Bee Gees, Barry pursued a solo career, released In the Now (2016) and remained active in tours and collaborations. Recognized for his distinctive vocal signature—notably his falsetto—and for playing guitar and acoustic guitar, he has received honorary distinctions, including a CBE and, later, a knighthood, becoming Sir Barry Gibb.
