Bobby Sherman was an American singer and actor who became one of the leading teen idols from the late 1960s into the early 1970s. He rose to prominence with a string of hit singles, notably the million-selling 1969 hit “Little Woman”; over his career he released more than one hundred songs, seven gold singles, one platinum single and five gold albums.
As an actor he gained attention as a cast member of the series Here Come the Brides (1968–1970) and appeared on numerous American television shows and variety programs, in addition to occasional film roles. His popularity on tour drew crowds of fans and had cultural impact during the era of teen idols.
In the 1970s Sherman left entertainment to work in emergency services and public safety: he served as a paramedic, became a reserve officer with the Los Angeles Police Department and later a deputy sheriff in California, and also worked as an instructor in first aid and CPR. He was active in charitable work through a foundation he helped establish, focused on education and music for young people in Ghana.
His legacy combines the memory of a pop phenomenon from the radio-and-TV era with a second chapter of public-service work and emergency training, reflecting an unusual transition from stardom to community service.
