Bonita Melody Lysette Langford, known professionally as Bonnie Langford, is an English actress, singer, dancer and television personality whose career began in childhood. She rose to prominence after winning the talent show Opportunity Knocks at age six, which led to stage and film roles in the 1970s and popular recognition for her portrayal of Violet Elizabeth Bott in the children’s series Just William.
Across her career Langford moved between stage and television: she has been notable in West End and Broadway musicals — including Peter Pan, Cats, Chicago and 42nd Street — and appeared in major British TV formats such as Doctor Who (playing Melanie Bush on several occasions from the mid-1980s, including anniversary returns and appearances in the 2020s) and the soap EastEnders, a role that earned her the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer in 2016.
She has also featured on entertainment and competition shows like Dancing on Ice and The Masked Dancer, demonstrating versatility as a performer. Her career is marked by longevity and an ability to reinvent herself across musical theatre, mainstream television and variety performance.
