Anna Ilona Staller, known by the stage name Cicciolina, is a political activist, former pornographic actress, singer and writer, Hungarian by birth and naturalized Italian.
At thirteen she joined the MTI modeling agency while still in Hungary, and in the summer of 1968 Cicciolina entered her country's secret service, where her role was to investigate the reasons why foreigners were in Hungarian territory. After the death of an American politician who was under investigation, Ilona left the secret services.
She married; after obtaining Italian citizenship, Ilona took a train from Budapest to Milan, where she made pornographic films produced by the weak, newly born porn industry of the time.
In 1973, after seeing a sexy photo spread of Ilona Staller in Playmen magazine, Riccardo Sccicchi, who was an architecture student and a photographer for that magazine, was fascinated by the young Hungarian's 'sensual-innocent' image and soon contacted her. After taking several photos of Ilona, Riccardo mounted an exhibition of the girl's photos at the agency where he worked. There he met the owner of one of Italy's few free radio stations, who invited her to host a program on his station. This is how Ilona Staller reached stardom in the 1970s: hosting a sex-themed program developed by her and Riccardo Sccicchi on Radio Luna in Rome, under the pseudonym Cicciolina. With the success of the program, Cicciolina was considered the queen of sexuality (rainha da sexualidade) in Italy. At the same time, she also developed and presented a program on Radio San Paolo in Naples.
