Craig Ehlo is a former American professional basketball player, known for a 14-season NBA career. Primarily a shooting guard, he was noted for his defensive versatility and team-first approach, traits that earned him the nickname “Mr. Everything.” A Washington State University alumnus, he was selected in the 1983 draft and early on joined competitive rosters, including the run to the 1986 Finals. The most notable period of his career came with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he became a starter and saw increased minutes and responsibilities. He is remembered for matchups with Michael Jordan and, above all, for being Jordan’s opponent on Jordan’s legendary game-winning shot on May 7, 1989 — a game in which Ehlo scored 24 points despite an injury and maintained intense defensive play. In addition to the Cavaliers, he played for franchises including Houston, Atlanta and Seattle, finishing with 7,492 points, 2,456 assists and 3,139 rebounds in his career. He took part in league All-Star weekend three-point contests and, after retiring, worked as a broadcaster on Seattle SuperSonics telecasts.
