Albrecht IV, Duke of Saxe-Eisenach, was a prince and ruler of the minor Saxon nobility in the early 17th century. A son of John II, Duke of Saxe-Weimar, he received a military and humanistic education, studied at the University of Jena and made the customary formative journey through France and Switzerland—experiences that shaped his administrative preparation. Throughout his life he devoted himself chiefly to government and regional administration, representing his brothers in regencies during their absences. In 1633 he married Princess Dorothea of Saxe-Altenburg; the marriage produced no children but reinforced dynastic ties between branches of the House of Wettin. Under the partition agreement among the brothers, he became ruler of Eisenach in 1640, taking up the duchy amid the territorial fragmentation typical of the Imperial states. He died in 1644, and upon his death the lands reverted to the Duchy of Saxe-Weimar; his legacy is mainly one of dynastic continuity and local administration in a period marked by internal succession dynamics.
