Forest Steven Whitaker is an American actor, producer and film director, celebrated for his intensive character-study work in films such as Bird and Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, and for his recurring role as former Los Angeles police lieutenant Jon Kavanaugh on the award-winning police television series The Shield.
Whitaker won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as the dictator Idi Amin of Uganda in the 2006 film O Último Rei da Escócia.
The fourth Black actor to be honored with an Academy Award, joining Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington and Jamie Foxx, Whitaker also holds a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award.
