Greg Louganis is one of the United States’ most celebrated Olympic divers, known for winning gold in both the 3 m springboard and 10 m platform at the 1984 and 1988 Games — making him the only man to win both events at consecutive Olympics. His competitive career includes world titles, the first unanimous perfect 10 in a major competition, and recognition as one of the greatest divers in history. Trained in theatre and with a background in dance and gymnastics since childhood, Louganis attracted attention early, joining collegiate teams and earning the notice of prominent coaches.
