Henry Ford was an American entrepreneur and mechanical engineer, founder of the Ford Motor Company, author of the books My Philosophy of Industry and My Life and Work, and the first businessman to apply the assembly line in such a way as to mass-produce automobiles in less time and at lower cost. The introduction of his Ford Model T revolutionized transportation and industry in the United States.
Ford was a prolific inventor and registered 161 patents in the United States. As the sole owner of the Ford Motor Company, he became one of the richest and most famous men in the world. On June 16, 1903, the day the Ford Motor Company was founded, capital of US$150,000 (in values of the time) was invested by 12 partners, of which US$28,000 was invested by Ford himself, who was then 40 years old.
