Ione Skye (born Ione Skye Leitch) is an actress, writer and painter born in England, best known for her role as Diane Court in Cameron Crowe’s Say Anything... (1989), which brought her international recognition and placed her within the independent and commercial film circuits of the 1990s. She appeared in notable films such as Gas Food Lodging (1992), Wayne’s World (1992) and One Night Stand (1997), and later had roles in films like Zodiac (2007) as well as in independent horror features and short films.
The daughter of musician Donovan and model Enid Karl, she grew up mainly in the United States and began appearing on screen at a young age, debuting in Borda do Rio (1986). Her career combined leading and supporting roles, moving between comedy and drama while maintaining a steady presence in auteur and alternative projects.
Alongside her acting, Skye works as a painter and sells her artworks, and as an author: she published the children’s book My Yiddish Vacation (2014) and later a memoir that echoes the title of her best‑known role. Her artistic output shows the influence of cartoonist Daniel Clowes and a career shaped by work in cult films and by activity across multiple creative fields.
