Ken Wilber is an American thinker known for formulating the Integral approach, which seeks to integrate science, philosophy, art, and spirituality. The author of more than sixteen books, he rose to prominence in the late decades of the 20th century by articulating a transdisciplinary view of human consciousness, engaging with Western and Eastern mystical traditions and with Carl Jung’s analytical psychology. Founder of the Integral Institute in 1998, Wilber developed concepts such as Integral Psychology, Integral Politics, and Integral Spirituality, proposing a unifying metamodel of knowledge — his so-called “Theory of Everything” applied to what he calls the Kosmos: matter, life, mind, soul, and spirit. Works such as The Spectrum of Consciousness, The Atman Project, and A Theory of Everything became reference points for readers interested in contemporary spirituality. His work received both praise — the press compared him to figures of major intellectual impact — and criticism for controversial readings of sources, a prolix style, and the commercialization of spirituality. Even so, Wilber broadened the public appeal of a perennial philosophy and influenced thinkers and public figures across diverse fields.
