Lauren Lyle is a Scottish actress whose work is prominent in television and contemporary theatre. She gained international recognition for playing Marsali MacKimmie Fraser in the series Outlander, and established herself in dramatic roles such as Jade Antoniak in the acclaimed BBC production Vigil, which became one of the broadcaster’s biggest audience hits in 2021. Trained through the practical experience of the National Youth Theatre, Lyle began her professional career on the Old Vic stage in London in the 2014 production of The Crucible. Her theatre work includes seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe and roles in classic adaptations, which supported her transition to television and independent film. On screen, beyond early appearances in series such as Holby City and Broken, she starred in the television adaptation of the investigator Karen Pirie from 2022, a role that earned her critical recognition and the BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actress in Television, as well as the Audience Award for Favorite Scot on Screen. She also hosts the podcast She's a Rec', in which she interviews women about cultural influences in their lives. Lyle’s work is characterized by versatility between stage and screen, with a preference for intense projects of an investigative or historical nature, positioning her as one of the Scottish actresses to watch in contemporary British drama.
