She began her career in British productions, attracting attention in The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933) and establishing herself with The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934), which led to work in Hollywood under producers such as Samuel Goldwyn. Her performance in The Dark Angel (1935) earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
Oberon’s artistic career was marked by resilience: a serious car accident in 1937 caused significant facial injuries but did not end her work; she continued appearing in film and television into the 1970s.
