MØ, stage name of Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted Andersen, is a Danish singer and songwriter whose work moves between synth-pop, electropop and influences from punk and hip-hop. Emerging on the alternative scene with the duo MOR and independent projects, she released her debut album No Mythologies to Follow in 2014, which established her critical and commercial presence in Denmark and abroad. Her work gained global exposure through wide-reaching collaborations: she contributed vocals and co-writing to tracks by Major Lazer and DJ Snake, most notably the single "Lean On" (2015), which reached top chart positions in several countries and has amassed billions of views. She has also collaborated with artists such as Avicii, Diplo and Iggy Azalea, increasing her visibility in pop and electronic music. Awarded in her country — including multiple prizes at the 2014 Danish Music Awards — MØ is recognized for blending an accessible pop sensibility with an alternative aesthetic. Her subsequent career remained focused on collaborative singles and on developing a second album that affirmed her role as a notable figure in contemporary Danish music.
