Peter Frampton is a British musician best known for his solo work in the 1970s. Frampton became famous for being the first guitarist to use the talking-guitar technique (talk box), which would years later be used by Joe Walsh (Eagles), Slash (Guns n' Roses), Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi) and Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters). He then went on to work with Steve Marriott (of The Small Faces) in the band Humble Pie, as well as on albums by Harry Nilsson, Jerry Lee Lewis, George Harrison and Ringo Starr (with whom Peter has a close friendship). His solo debut was in 1972 with Wind of Change.
Frampton's solo breakthrough came with Frampton Comes Alive, six-times platinum, which included the hits "Do You Feel Like We Do", "Baby, I Love Your Way" and "Show Me the Way".
After the attack on the World Trade Center in New York, Frampton decided to become an American citizen. He played an active role in the 2004 election campaign of candidate John Kerry. Recently Peter Frampton won his first Grammy for his entirely instrumental album "Fingerprints", released at the end of 2007, which features members of Pearl Jam, Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers Band and others.
