Marie Gabrielle Aldegonde Guillermina Louise de Nassau was a princess of Luxembourg, the daughter of Grand Duchess Charlotte and Prince Félix of Bourbon-Parma. Sister of the former Grand Duke Jean and paternal aunt of the current Grand Duke Henri, she maintained a discreet presence within the grand-ducal family throughout the twentieth century. During World War II she accompanied the family into exile—living in Canada and later in Great Britain, where she took part in activities with the British Red Cross. After the conflict she married Knud of Holstein‑Ledreborg in 1951; the couple had seven daughters, and she also became part of the Danish aristocracy as Countess of Holstein‑Ledreborg. In the following decades she devoted herself to private life and artistic pursuits: in the 1950s she studied under the sculptor Auguste Tremont and exhibited works under the pseudonym “Mademoiselle de Clervaux” in Luxembourg and France. She died on 9 February 2023 at the age of 97, with her death announced by the Grand Ducal Court.
