Siobhan Redmond is a Scottish actress known for her work in theatre, radio, film and television. A graduate in English from the University of St Andrews, she has worked with prestigious companies and productions, including the Royal Shakespeare Company and seasons at Shakespeare’s Globe, where she played Shakespearean roles such as Maria and Titania/Hippolyta. On stage she has also been noted for modern plays like Dunsinane and for classics such as The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.
On British television she built a steady career from the 1980s onward, appearing in prominent series including Bulman, Between the Lines, The High Life, Holby City, The Smoking Room, Sea of Souls and Unforgotten, among others. She is known for taking on both comic and dramatic parts and for playing multiple roles within the same production, as she did with the twins in Sea of Souls.
She has maintained a constant presence in radio and audio drama, notably in adaptations of Sherlock Holmes and in the Doctor Who franchise for Big Finish, where she portrayed a new incarnation of the Rani. Her work has received institutional recognition: an honorary doctorate from the University of St Andrews and appointment as an MBE for services to drama, reflecting her standing and contribution to British theatre and television.
