Al Molinaro (born Umberto Francesco Molinaro) was an American actor best known for television comedy roles in the 1970s and 1980s. He became a popular figure portraying Al Delvecchio, the owner of Arnold’s restaurant on the series Happy Days, and earlier played police officer Murray Greshler on The Odd Couple. His calm presence and the catchphrase “Yep‑yep‑yep...” made him endearing to audiences and helped sustain the character across spin‑offs. Born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to an immigrant Italian family, Molinaro moved to California, where he ran his own businesses before turning to acting. In the 1960s and 1970s he appeared in numerous sitcoms and commercials, building a steady career in television. Beyond acting, he took part in high‑profile advertising campaigns and small business ventures, and maintained relationships with colleagues such as Garry and Penny Marshall, who helped advance his career. His legacy is linked to the nostalgic image of classic American television and to popular identification with family comedy characters.
