Ann B. Davis was an American actress and comedian whose career was prominent on television and in theatre. She became known for playing Charmaine “Schultzy” Schultz on The Bob Cummings Show (1955–1959), a role that earned her two Emmy Awards for supporting actress and established her visibility early in her career. Later she achieved enduring fame as Alice Nelson, the devoted housekeeper on The Brady Bunch (1969–1974), a character who kept her active in films and franchise spin‑offs.
Beyond television, Davis worked extensively in theatre — touring nationally and appearing in Broadway productions, including brief runs in Once Upon a Mattress and stagings of classics such as The Matchmaker and Bus Stop. She was also a recurring presence in advertising campaigns and performed as a comedian in live shows.
Throughout her life she was involved with the Episcopal Church and did volunteer work connected to her religious community. Her artistic legacy remains tied to the two roles that defined her career: the resourceful Schultzy and the warmhearted Alice, who influenced generations of American television viewers.
