Antonello Fassari was an Italian actor and comedian whose career spanned theatre, film, radio and television, establishing him as a familiar figure in Italian culture in recent decades. Trained at the Accademia d’arte drammatica Silvio D’Amico, he began in the theatre and soon moved into television, appearing in sceneggiati and variety shows and becoming notable on Avanzi for his parodies and comic characters. His versatility extended to work for Rai Radio 2 and theatrical productions of authors such as Pier Paolo Pasolini. In cinema, Fassari worked with acclaimed directors and held significant roles in films such as Selvaggi and Romanzo criminale, and he directed O segreto del giaguaro (2000). In 1984 he also tried his hand at music, composing and performing “Romadinotte,” one of the first rap songs in Italian, reflecting his experimental, multifaceted nature. Between 2006 and 2014 he became widely known to the general public for the role of Cesare in I Cesaroni, which brought him considerable television popularity. Recognized for a striking stage presence and an ease in moving between comedy and drama, he left a varied body of work in Italian entertainment. A devoted AS Roma supporter, he received recognition from the Romanista community in 2020. He died in 2025; his final television appearance was released posthumously.
