Dakota Mayi Johnson is an American model and actress. She is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and the granddaughter of actress Tippi Hedren.
She made her film debut alongside her mother in the comedy-drama Crazy in Alabama (1999) and was named Miss Golden Globe in 2006. After graduating high school, she returned to acting with roles in The Social Network (2010), Beastly (2011), 21 Jump Street (2012), Need for Speed (2014), and the short-lived comedy series Ben and Kate (2012-2013).
She gained wider recognition when she played Anastasia Steele in the film based on the erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey (2015). In the same year, she received critical acclaim for her performances in Black Mass and A Bigger Splash. She also starred in the romantic comedy How to Be Single (2016) and reprised the role of Anastasia Steele in the sequels Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Fifty Shades Freed (2018).
