Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens, the current and former stage names of Steven Demetre Georgiou, is a British singer and songwriter. He has sold 40 million albums, primarily during the 1960s and 1970s. Among his most popular songs are 'Morning Has Broken', 'Peace Train', 'Moonshadow', 'Wild World', 'Father and Son' and 'Oh Very Young'.

After his conversion to Islam he adopted the name Yusuf Islam, having publicly defended on several occasions the execution of Salman Rushdie.
