Doug Oldham was an American Southern gospel singer and a well‑known figure on the evangelical circuit for more than six decades. Ordained as a music minister in 1955, he served as choir director and soloist in churches and at large evangelistic campaigns, camp meetings, and youth conventions in the U.S. and abroad, working within a family ministry tradition. With 64 albums released, Oldham collaborated with prominent names and groups in the genre — among them Fred Waring, the Bill Gaither Trio, the Speer Family, and the ensembles of Jerry Falwell and Jim Bakker on Christian television. His repertoire included songs that reflected personal and faith experiences, and the album Something Worth Living For was named best gospel album of 1968 by the National Evangelical Film Foundation. His career earned several honors: two Dove Awards, an Angel Award, an honorary doctorate, and, in 2006, induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. His work left a mark on contemporary evangelical repertoire and on educational and performance initiatives, including a recital hall dedicated in his honor at a Christian academic institution.
