Garou, stage name of Pierre Garand, is a Québécois singer and actor whose career reached international prominence with his portrayal of Quasimodo in the musical Notre‑Dame de Paris (1998). Known for his deep voice and a repertoire spanning pop, blues and rhythm and blues, he established himself as a solo artist with the album Seul (2000), whose title single spent weeks at the top of the French charts. Over the decades, Garou has released nine studio albums and one live album, working with prominent producers and songwriters and recording in both English and French. The album Rhythm and Blues (2012) earned a gold record and confirmed his exploration of genre classics and reinterpretations of francophone and anglophone hits. In addition to recording, he has undertaken major international tours, collaborated on high-profile duets — such as "Sous le vent" with Céline Dion — and participated in television projects as a coach on The Voice (France) and La Voix (Canada). He has also been involved in television and theater productions, including a partnership with Cirque du Soleil. Garou’s career combines commercial success with a presence at francophone cultural events, leaving a legacy as a performer who brought popular repertoire and musical theater closer to a wide audience.
