Hannah Lee Teter is an American snowboarder known for her career in halfpipe competition. She rose to international prominence by winning gold at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and silver at Vancouver 2010, and she has additional World Championship podiums and six World Cup victories over the course of her career. Her rise included junior titles and wins at major events such as the Winter X Games and the Burton Australian Open. Born into a family of winter-sports enthusiasts in Vermont, Teter entered the competitive circuit early and overcame serious knee injuries to reach her peak in 2006. Off the slopes, she became noted for personal choices that shaped her public image, including adopting a vegetarian diet, and for appearances in documentaries and international sports media. Teter is also active in humanitarian causes: she founded the Hannah's Gold initiative, which directs funds to community projects in Kenya, and has donated prize money to aid disaster victims. Her sporting and social work established a record that combines competitive success with philanthropic commitment.
