Helene Stanley, born Dolores Diane Freymouth, was an American actress and dancer active from the 1940s through the 1960s. She began her career as a young performer at MGM and accumulated credits in studio films and television series in the United States and Germany before leaving screen work in the early 1960s.
Beyond her on-camera roles, Stanley became known for a distinctive contribution to animation: she served as a live-action model for the movements and poses of three iconic Disney heroines—Cinderella, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), and Anita (101 Dalmatians)—helping shape the physicality and expressiveness of those characters.
On stage, she performed in the 1950s to favorable critical response and drew interest from other major studios. Her filmography spans musicals, dramas, and adventure films, reflecting a varied career within the studio system of the period.
She married twice, had one son, and lived privately after retiring from performing. Her legacy endures mainly through the bodily influence she lent to Disney’s Golden Age animation.
