Ian Kinsler is a former professional baseball player from the United States, best known for his 14-season career as a second baseman in Major League Baseball. He combined power and speed: a four-time All-Star, two-time Gold Glove winner, and a member of the Boston Red Sox World Series championship team in 2018. His professional career included significant stints with the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels, Boston Red Sox, and San Diego Padres. Kinsler achieved feats rare for a player at his position, posting two 30–30 seasons (home runs and stolen bases) and routinely appearing on lists of the best active players. In 2009 he hit for the cycle and recorded six hits in a single game, performances uncommon in the league’s history. Over his career he also received defensive honors such as the Fielding Bible Award. Beyond club play, Kinsler competed internationally, appearing for the United States in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, representing Israel at the 2020 Olympic Games (held in 2021), and serving as manager of Israel’s team in the 2023 WBC. He retired after the 2019 season with 1,999 career hits.
