Jarron Thomas Collins is an American basketball coach and former professional player, best known for his time as a center in the NBA and for his move into coaching. Selected in the second round of the 2001 draft by the Utah Jazz, he played ten seasons in the league, spending most of his career in Utah before short stints with Phoenix, the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland. In college he starred at Stanford, where he was a two-time All-American and finished among the university’s top ten all-time in rebounds, blocks, field-goal percentage and games played. After retiring as a player in 2011, Collins worked as a scout and college-basketball commentator for Pac-12 Networks, then joined the Golden State Warriors’ coaching staff in 2014 as a player development coach under Steve Kerr. He was part of the Warriors’ NBA championship teams in 2015, 2017 and 2018 and was promoted to assistant coach in 2015. Collins left Golden State in 2021 and was soon hired as an assistant coach by the New Orleans Pelicans. A twin brother of Jason Collins, also an NBA player, Jarron is noted for successfully moving from playing to technical and development roles, helping teams that have posted strong collective performances and won recent league titles.
