Jennifer Capriati is a former American tennis player who rose to international prominence as a teenager and built a career defined by major victories and a notable athletic comeback. She turned professional at 13 and set several age-related records, breaking into the world top 10 early and impressing by defeating established names on the tour. Her career includes 14 WTA singles titles, three Grand Slam titles — the Australian Open (2001, 2002) and the French Open (2001) — and the gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
After a period of personal difficulties and time away from the tour in the mid-1990s, Capriati staged a remarkable return between 1998 and 2002, regaining form and competitive level to reach world No. 1 for 17 weeks. Her breakthrough at the 2001 Australian Open, where she became the lowest-seeded player ever to win that tournament, symbolized this resurgence.
Beyond the titles, Capriati is remembered for the combination of early talent and resilience that earned her induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2014. Her story remains an example of youthful excellence, recovery, and lasting impact on women’s tennis.
