Canadian author, founder and guru of the esoteric teaching system 'Human Design'. In 1983, he left Quebec and began working as a humanities teacher at the Morna Valley school in Ibiza, Spain. According to his own accounts, in January 1987 he had an unusual mystical experience followed by an encounter with The Voice, an intelligence superior to anything he had previously experienced. That experience lasted eight days, during which he purportedly received a transmission of information, later known as "Human Design System" (HDS). He combines elements of astrology, the I Ching, the Indian chakra system and the Kabbalah. Krakower began calling himself Ra Uru Hu when he started popularizing his system.
His teaching system is rigidly controlled by a worldwide network of licenses and authorized teachers. There are independent publications about the HDS, which tend to avoid using the name Ra Uru Hu for trademark reasons.
Then known as Robert A. Krakower, son of Joseph Krakower, he married Helaine Herman at the Shaare Zedek Synagogue in Montreal in the summer of 1970. After completing a Bachelor of Arts at Sir George Williams University and working in sales and promotion, he was appointed vice-president of Alpha Data Ltd in June of 1973 in Victoria, British Columbia. Later, he built a career as an advertising executive, magazine editor and media producer.
