Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is a former French professional tennis player known for his aggressive game and commanding presence on the tour from the mid-2000s into the early 2020s. Emerging as a standout junior—he was world No. 2 in 2003 and won the US Open junior title—he turned professional in 2004 and established himself among the sport’s top competitors with notable wins and finals at high-profile events. His career includes a Grand Slam final at the 2008 Australian Open, where he rose to wide prominence after defeating players such as Rafael Nadal before losing the title match to Novak Đjoković. On the ATP Tour he captured major titles including the 2008 Paris Masters and the 2014 Canada Masters in singles, and a doubles title at the 2009 Shanghai Masters (Masters 1000). Over the years he also won several ATP 250 and 500 tournaments and made repeated semifinal and final runs at significant events. Representing France, he earned an Olympic silver medal in doubles at the 2012 London Games alongside Michaël Llodra. Tsonga retired in 2022, leaving a legacy of charisma, explosive athleticism, and numerous memorable matches against the leading players of his generation.
