Jon Krakauer is an American writer and mountaineer known for non-fiction books that blend investigative reporting with adventure narrative. He became widely known for Into the Wild, an account of Christopher McCandless’s journey and death, and for Into Thin Air, a first-person account of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster in which he participated as a client on an expedition and lost teammates.
