Jonathan Cainer was a British astrologer known for his daily prediction columns, read by millions in the United Kingdom and abroad. He rose to prominence writing for newspapers such as the Daily Mail, Today, the Daily Express and the Daily Mirror, and also had publications in Australia, New Zealand, Botswana and Japan. His forecasts were estimated to reach more than twelve million readers.
A graduate of the Faculty of Astrological Studies, Cainer favored individual horoscopes based on precise birth data and published books aimed at teaching astrological language, as well as popular titles such as Jonathan Cainer's Love Signs and Cosmic Ordering. He also took part in developing astrological software and maintained a frequent presence on television and radio as a commentator when the subject was in the spotlight.
An entrepreneur and philanthropist, Cainer restored and operated properties in York — including ventures such as the Museum of Psychic Experience and a themed attraction — and supported schools inspired by the ideas of Rudolf Steiner. His career was notable both for its wide audience and for controversies and contractual disputes between newspapers. After his death in 2016, his nephew Oscar Cainer took over the column and the editorial projects Jonathan had established.
