Dawn Catherine Menzer, known professionally as Lori Martin, was an American actress whose work was prominent in childhood. She became widely known for playing the lead in the television series National Velvet (1960–1962), a role that gave her national exposure and established her image as a young TV star. Her most notable film performance was in Cape Fear (1962), in which she played Nancy Bowden, the daughter of Gregory Peck’s character — a portrayal notable both for its dramatic intensity and for the emotional impact of the pursuit scenes.

The daughter of a studio art director and introduced to commercials and guest parts very early, she found success in films and series from the late 1950s. Despite an auspicious start, the transition to adult roles proved difficult: in the 1970s she left her career because of typecasting, family responsibilities, and a desire for academic study. She attempted a return to acting later, but ran up against changes in the industry.

Married and a mother, she also worked in business ventures outside the screen. Her career is remembered for its early impact on television and for a role in a widely discussed film, leaving a legacy tied to the golden age of child actors on American television.
