Lou de Laâge is a French actress and model, known for her work in film, theatre, and television. Trained at the École Claude Mathieu in Paris, she began her career as a model—appearing in commercial campaigns—before moving into television and film roles. Her performances have drawn critical attention in France since the mid-2010s.
In cinema, she received two César Award nominations for notable performances in Jappeloup (2013) and Respire (Breath, 2014), recognitions that placed her among the country’s promising new generation of performers. In 2016 she was awarded the Romy Schneider Prize, given to young talents in French cinema, further establishing her presence on the national cultural scene.
In 2022 Lou de Laâge won the International Emmy for Best Actress for her performance in Le bal des folles, directed by Mélanie Laurent, becoming the second French actress to receive that honour in the category. Her recent filmography also includes a role in the cinematic project Wasp 22, listed as Woody Allen’s latest film (working title).
