Maria Fida Moro was an Italian writer, journalist and political figure, best known as the daughter of Christian Democratic leader Aldo Moro and for her public activism concerning the family’s legacy and the vicissitudes of the Moro case. Elected to the Senate in the X Legislature for southern Italy with Democrazia Cristiana, she pursued a heterogeneous political path, affiliating with formations such as Rifondazione Comunista and Movimento Sociale Italiano and later helping to found Alleanza Nazionale; she also stood as a candidate in local and European elections without securing another mandate. Author of books and theatrical texts, she also distinguished herself as a promoter of cultural and associative initiatives: in 1998 she staged the show L'ira del sole and founded the radical association “Sete di verità,” devoted to exploring denied truths and protecting victims. With her son Luca she participated in editorial projects that recalled the family memory and the historical context of Aldo Moro’s kidnapping. Her public activity was defined by critical stances toward institutional figures she deemed co‑responsible in the Moro affair and by campaigning for legal recognition of victims of terrorism, obtaining in 2023 the application of measures under Law 206/2004 in favor of her father. Ill for some time, she died in Rome in 2024 at the age of 77, leaving an inheritance linked to Italian political and cultural memory.
