Marilu Henner is an American actress, singer and author whose career was established across stage, film and television from the 1970s onward. Coming from musical theater—she was in the original production of Grease and appeared in Broadway shows—she rose to prominence on television as Elaine Nardo in the series Taxi (1978–1983), a role that earned her several Golden Globe nominations.
In film, she appeared in titles such as Hammett, The Man Who Loved Women, Cannonball Run II, Johnny Dangerously and L.A. Story, while also appearing recurrently in television movies and series. She returned to television with a regular role on Evening Shade (1990–1994), hosted her own programs, and lent her voice to animations such as Batman: The Animated Series.
Beyond her artistic work, Henner became the author of books on health, diet and memory and hosted programs related to well-being. She is also known for having hyperthymesia—exceptional autobiographical memory—and for serving as a consultant on projects that explored that condition. Over the decades she has remained visible through reality shows and guest appearances, building a multifaceted presence in American popular culture.
