Mark Jankowski is a Canadian professional ice hockey player whose career has unfolded between the NHL and the AHL. A natural center, he first drew notice while at Stanstead College, where he overcame early physical limitations and put up high goal and point totals that attracted scouts. That run culminated in his being selected in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft, 21st overall by the Calgary Flames — at the time the highest draft position for a Canadian player coming from a prep school.
As a professional, Jankowski has alternated stints within the Flames organization and with clubs such as Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Nashville, along with loans and tryout invitations that led to frequent play in the AHL. He has registered standout moments, including a multi-goal debut with the Carolina Hurricanes and a four-goal game for the Flames in 2018. His career has also featured swings in production and the role of a player who moves between a fourth-line NHL role and more productive assignments in the AHL.
Raised in a family with a hockey tradition — including relatives who played in the NHL and others involved in management — Jankowski has built a reputation as a resilient athlete able to adapt his game and provide offensive depth to different rosters over the course of his career.
