Mike Posner is an American singer, songwriter, poet, and record producer from the Detroit metropolitan area. He rose to prominence in 2010 with the single "Cooler Than Me," which reached the Billboard top 10 and went multi-platinum, driving the release of his debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff. Since then he has built a career both as a performer and as a behind-the-scenes collaborator in the industry.
As a songwriter and producer, Posner has contributed to work by artists such as Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, Big Sean, and Iggy Azalea, co-writing widely played hits and expanding his role beyond his solo career. In 2015, an electronic reinterpretation of his song "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" became an international phenomenon, reviving his chart presence and preceding the critically well-received album At Night, Alone (2016).
Beyond music, Posner published a book of poetry, Tear Drops & Balloons, and is one half of the alternative duo Mansionz alongside rapper blackbear. His career blends pop performance, production, and writing, positioning him as a multifaceted figure in contemporary pop and in commercial collaboration circuits.
