Pat McGlynn (Patrick James McGlynn) is a Scottish musician and guitarist best known for his role as the rhythm guitarist of the Bay City Rollers in the second half of the 1970s. Replacing Ian Mitchell in 1976, he took part in the group's recordings on albums such as It's a Game (1977) and Strangers in the Wind (1978), contributing the track "The Pie." In 1977 he released the single "She'd Rather Be with Me," which reached number 65 on the Australian charts. After leaving the Bay City Rollers at the end of 1977, McGlynn fronted his own group, Pat McGlynn's Scotties, achieving notable success in Japan and Germany. As a songwriter, his work has appeared in competitive contexts, including "So Much of Your Love," performed by Sonia in the UK Eurovision selection in 1993. His career has also included public controversies: in 2003 he accused the former Bay City Rollers manager of an attempted assault alleged to have occurred in 1977, a case that did not lead to charges for lack of evidence. In 2005 he was arrested and later acquitted in a drug-related prosecution. McGlynn remains remembered for his role in 1970s pop line-ups and for his subsequent international musical activity.
