Peggy March, stage name of Margaret Annemarie Battavio, is an American pop singer whose career began in the 1960s. She became internationally known at age 14 with the single “I Will Follow Him,” which reached number one in several countries and made her the youngest female artist to top the Billboard Hot 100. Although often labeled a one-hit wonder in the United States, she continued working and achieved commercial success particularly in Europe. After her initial success in the United States, her domestic career was disrupted by the British Invasion, but March found new momentum in the European market, especially in Germany, where she settled in 1969. There she built a repertoire in German, reached high chart positions and took part in national selection contests for the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing second on two occasions. In addition to performing, she contributed as a songwriter, coauthoring the European hit “When the Rain Begins to Fall” (1984). Over the decades she has released albums in English and German, explored a variety of styles and maintained a presence on stages in Germany and the United States, including shows in Las Vegas and nostalgia-focused performances. Her legacy combines the early impact of a major worldwide hit with a long-standing career outside the United States, marked by adaptation to European markets and sustained artistic activity across decades.
