Peter Vincent Douglas is an American film and television producer known for leading independent companies and for projects that balance entertainment with critical regard. The son of actor Kirk Douglas and producer Anne Buydens, he worked early on at the family company The Bryna Company and in 1978 founded his own production company, Vincent Pictures, through which he developed notable films and literary adaptations. His career includes award-winning television productions: he won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama/Comedy Special in 1988 for Inherit the Wind, and was previously nominated for Amos (1984). In film, he produced cult titles such as The Final Countdown (1980) and the adaptation of Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983), as well as box-office hits like Fletch (1985) and its sequel. He also wrote, directed and produced A Tiger’s Tale (1988) and served as executive producer on later projects, including Whip It (2009). Over the decades, Douglas moved between family productions, independent cinema and partnerships with major studios, maintaining a career tied to his family's cinematic tradition and contributing across a range of genres, from the fantastic to suspense-comedy.
