Pierre Arditi is a French actor whose career in theatre, film and television has been prominent since the 1960s. Known for his versatility, he moved between contemporary playwrights and popular hits on French stages, earning major awards including two Césars (for Mélo and Smoking/No Smoking) and several Molières, among them Best Actor. In film, he became a recurring interpreter for director Alain Resnais, appearing in notable titles such as Mon oncle d'Amérique, Smoking / No Smoking and On connaît la chanson, establishing himself as a frequent presence in high-profile productions. Early in his career he had his first major role in L'Amour violé (1978). At the same time, Arditi built a significant body of work as a television actor and dubbing artist: he was the regular French voice of Christopher Reeve in Superman and of characters in popular franchises, and also lent his voice to commercials and various projects. He has taken part in public initiatives and social causes, supporting associations such as ATD Quart Monde and engaging in environmental campaigns. A respected public figure on the French cultural scene, Arditi remains active on stage, with recent premieres of plays by Florian Zeller and Samuel Benchetrit, and is known for his taste for wine and for contributing to specialist publications.
