Maria Christina of Saxony (1735–1782) was a princess of an influential European dynasty and, from 1773, abbess of the famed Remiremont Abbey in northeastern France. A daughter of Augustus III, King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, and Archduchess Maria Josepha, she belonged to a family network that connected courts across Europe, with siblings allied to the royal houses of Spain, France, and Bavaria.

Educated in letters, languages, and the arts, Maria Christina was sent to France in 1764 to take up duties at Remiremont, an institution that combined secular privileges and political power — including a seat in the Reichstag and certain judicial prerogatives. After the death of Princess Anne Charlotte of Lorraine, she became abbess, a position she held until her death.

Known for her fondness for Parisian social life, the theater, and learned correspondence, she was also the owner of the Château de Brumath, acquired in 1775. Despite her rank and education, she left considerable debts; on her death the balance was settled by Louis XVI. She was remembered for her intelligence and cultivated manners and was buried in her abbey church in December 1782.
