René Félix Allendy was a French physician, psychoanalyst, and homeopath active in the early decades of the twentieth century. He earned his medical degree in Paris (1912) and combined hospital practice with theoretical interests: he led studies on medicine, psychoanalysis, and the history of ideas, and he tested preventive homeopathic treatments against tuberculosis at Saint-Jacques Hospital between 1932 and 1939.
He took part in Paris’s intellectual scene, founding with his wife Yvonne a study group at the Sorbonne aimed at promoting humanist and scientific currents. In 1926 he underwent analysis with René Laforgue and soon began to practice as an analyst; he joined the Paris Psychoanalytic Society, where he held a secretarial post in the late 1920s.
Allendy also gained recognition as a clinician and for treating notable cultural figures of the time, including the writer Anaïs Nin and the actor–playwright Antonin Artaud. He published works on alchemy and medicine, dream interpretation, psychoanalysis, and the relationship between sexuality and society, leaving a varied legacy spanning alternative medicine and French psychoanalytic culture.
