Rika Zaraï, stage name of Rika Gozman, was an Israeli singer and writer who became widely known in Europe. Trained in popular repertoire, she performed in military entertainment shows in Israel before moving to the international scene, where she began presenting Hebrew repertoire to French-speaking and other audiences. Her European success solidified in the late 1960s with songs such as "Casatchok" and the French version of "Vivo Cantando" — "Alors je chante" — which increased her visibility. Over the course of her career she became known for popularizing emblematic Israeli songs, including "Hava Nagila", "Yerushalayim Shel Zahav" and "Hallelujah". A multilingual artist, she recorded and performed her main hits in at least six languages: Hebrew, English, French, Italian, Spanish and German, which contributed to her international appeal. She lived in Paris while maintaining frequent ties with Israel. In her final decades she experienced health problems that affected her mobility. Her artistic career left a legacy in spreading Israeli music abroad and in the memories of the European audiences who followed her.
