Robert Kirkman is an American writer, comics creator and producer known for creating series that have crossed between comics and screen. He rose to prominence with The Walking Dead, a franchise that spawned a successful television adaptation and led to other creations such as Fear the Walking Dead and Invincible. In comics he has also authored titles including Tech Jacket, Outcast, Oblivion Song and Fire Power, as well as work for Marvel such as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies.
As a cultural entrepreneur, Kirkman is a partner at Image Comics, where he currently serves as COO, and in 2010 he founded Skybound Entertainment to develop properties for comics, television, film and games — including the Skybound Games label. His works have frequently migrated to other media: he created and produced television adaptations of Outcast and Invincible and has served as writer and producer on various spin-offs and film projects.
Kirkman’s career focuses on conceiving serialized universes and managing their commercial extensions, combining original creation with business activity in the entertainment market, with a notable impact on the popularization of contemporary horror and superhero storytelling.
