Roger Clemens is one of the most dominant pitchers in professional baseball history. Over 24 seasons in Major League Baseball, he was known for his power and competitiveness, compiling 354 wins, a 3.12 ERA and 4,672 strikeouts — the third-highest total ever. He was an 11-time All-Star, won two World Series titles, and holds seven Cy Young Awards, a record among pitchers.

His career features notable stints with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, as well as the Toronto Blue Jays and Houston Astros. In 1986 he won the American League MVP, and on two occasions with Toronto he won the pitching triple crown by leading the league in wins, ERA and strikeouts. In 2003 he recorded both his 300th win and his 4,000th strikeout.

In recent decades his public image has also been marked by controversies related to allegations of substance use and perjury prosecutions; he was acquitted criminally in 2012, but the accusations affected his absence from the Hall of Fame. Even so, he remains regarded by many as one of the greatest pitchers of the modern era.
